Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

For the Marinade & Sauce:

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup water

Directions:

  1. Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and water. Add sliced beef and toss to coat. Let it marinate for 15–30 minutes (or while prepping broccoli).
  2. Cook the Broccoli:
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Transfer to a plate.
  3. Cook the Beef:
Add remaining oil to the pan. Add beef (in batches if needed) and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned and just cooked through.
  4. Combine & Finish:
Return broccoli to the pan and pour in any remaining sauce. Stir everything together and cook for another 1–2 minutes until heated through and coated in sauce.
  5. Serve:
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
