Chocolate Lava Mug Cake

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (for the lava center)
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, whipped cream, or ice cream

Directions:

  1. Mix the Batter:
    In a microwave-safe mug (10–12 oz size), whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients:
    Stir in milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth. Make sure no dry bits remain.
  3. Create the Lava Center:
    Gently press the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate into the center of the batter—don’t mix it in fully.
  4. Microwave:
    Microwave on high for 1 minute (microwave times may vary slightly). The cake should rise and be set on top, with a gooey center.
  5. Serve:
    Let cool for 1–2 minutes, then top with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or a scoop of ice cream if desired.
