Spicy Korean Beef Bulgogi

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) beef ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) – optional for extra heat
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)

Directions:

  1. Marinate the Beef:
In a large bowl, mix soy sauce, gochujang, gochugaru (if using), sesame oil, sugar, honey, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and green onions. Add beef slices and toss well to coat. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best flavor).
  2. Cook the Beef:
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef and onions in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring until browned and cooked through.
  3. Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve hot over steamed rice with kimchi or lettuce wraps.
